Still Life, 2025
In May this year, the plum tree blossomed, and then in August, a solitary white plum appeared on the tree. It’s due to fruit in December, with a heavy crop of dark red fruit expected. Aberration or harbinger, I could not tell.
Bio: Deborah is an artist based in Tāmaki Makaurau. Her art practice principally utilises text in order to investigate the ways in which power plays out in the social and political domain. With a particular interest in the machinations of capitalism her practice probes the contemporary world, focusing on slippages within language as a means of opening up alternative meanings and musing on possibilities for change.
